ATLANTA - A man from Arkansas who came to Atlanta for a short vacation ended up in the hospital, according to relatives.
Family members reported Anthony Martin, Jr., 25, missing this week after he did not return home to North Little Rock on Sunday as planned.
"We [have] been worried sick," said Martin's sister, Nionda Martin. "We've been crying, praying and everything."
Martin's mother, Sandra Ashley, said she tried to call his phone, but it went straight to voicemail and Martin stopped posting updates on his Facebook page. Family and friends shared pictures of Martin online to help spread the word about his disappearance.
Ashley said she was terrified until her son finally contacted her Thursday from the hospital.
"He was like, 'I'm here.' And we were like, here where?" Ashley explained. "And we called him through Facebook and he was saying, 'I'm here in Atlanta. I'm in the hospital. I don't know how I got there.' And I just started crying."
Loved ones said Martin was not certain how he landed in the hospital. The last thing he told them he remembered was checking into his hotel room near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
The family said Martin has diabetes and they do not know whether he had a medical emergency or if something else happened to him. They also do not understand why the hospital did not notify them when he was admitted.
"We're still on edge until we get to him. When we get to him, we'll figure out from there where to go from there," said Nionda Martin.
