Marietta man unharmed after firing gun in pants

A Marietta man is lucky to be unharmed after police say he discharged his gun into his pants.

Marietta Police shared a photo of the man's pants, which had a huge bullet hole and tears, Sunday morning.

They said the man had tucked his loaded gun into his waist band. When the gun began to slip, he told police that he tried to stop it from falling and accidentally pulled the trigger.

"If you want to carry a carry a hand gun, seek proper training and then ensure you have all the right equipment, you know, like a HOLSTER," Marietta police wrote.

The shot missed his leg and hit the ground, causing shrapnel to fly and hit a nearby woman and child, police said. Thankfully nobody had any injuries other than a bit of shock.

"Seriously people, it is your right to bear arms, but if you CHOOSE to do that, seek training first," police said.
