Man stabbed, another shot during Athens altercation

A man was shot, and another man was stabbed in an altercation at an Athens residence, according to Athens-Clarke County Police.

Travious Bugg allegedly came to the victim's residence to pick up some belongings, and then a struggle ensued, according to police. The victim told police that Bugg was his current girlfriend's former boyfriend, according to police.

During the struggle, Bugg pulled a gun and shot the victim in the thigh, according to police. The victim told police he used a knife in self-defense, and cut Bugg several times about the face, police say.

Bugg left the residence before officer’s arrived on scene and was later found at a local hospital receiving medical treatment for his wounds.

The  investigation  conducted  by detectives determined that Bugg was the primary aggressor. After receiving medical treatment, he was arrested and charged with  aggravated assault with a gun,  misdemeanor battery, and  possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

The incident occurred before 1 p.m. on Thursday on Broadacres Court in Athens.
