Man shot seven times at Atlanta gas station, innocent bystanders also hit

Atlanta Police are looking for the people who opened fire at a gas station on Jonesboro Road, shooting three people, one of those men shot seven times.

“I definitely thought I was dead,” said Woody Lofton, who was shot seven times.

In newly released surveillance video you can see Lofton walking out of the gas station convenience store towards the gas pumps when a dark colored car pulls up and starts firing shots.

“I am choking on my blood, I can't scream for help and I am just laid out," said Lofton.

Atlanta Police said the flying bullets also hit two innocent people inside the convenience store.  In the surveillance video, you can see the glass shattered by bullets and the man and woman run off.  At one point the man even lifts his shirt where police say he was shot.

“It’s a careless act, we know that the person just didn't care who he was hurting or who else got hurt," said Atlanta Police Detective Jeffrey Churchill.  "It’s a problem; this person needs to be taken off the streets.”

Atlanta Police released the surveillance video in hopes that someone knows something. Investigators said the male shooter and the female driver were in a dark-colored car, possibly an Impala.

Lofton told FOX 5’s Nathalie Pozo he wants the people inside the car off the streets, all while being grateful that he is still alive.

“God pulled me through this, so I am real blessed to be here,” said Lofton.
