ATLANTA - The Atlanta Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in Atlanta early Friday morning.
Police said around 1:30 a.m., a driver was traveling down Boulder Park Drive at the Interstate 285 overpass when they noticed a man's body on the side of the road.
According to authorities, the driver told police they thought the victim may have been hit by a car, but once officers and the medical examiner arrived on scene, the man had a bullet wound to his chest.
Police said the victim, who appears to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are canvassing the scene, looking for any evidence.
Police said they found a grocery bag next to the man's body so they believe the man was walking down the road when the shooting happened.
Authorities are asking anyone with any information to call the police.
