Man dies after being slapped at Gwinnett County party

DACULA, Ga. - Police are investigating a man's death after he was slapped at a party in Gwinnett County early Sunday morning. 

The incident happened in the backyard of a house on Pipeline Road in Dacula. 

According to police, Adrian Herrera told officers he open-hand slapped Tomas Rodriquez in the face after the victim grabbed his shoulder and insulted him. Herrera said Rodriquez had been harassing him throughout the day. 

Herrera said he struck the victim after returning from riding his horse at around 3 a.m. That's when the victim collapsed, then stopped breathing after being hit.

Herrera remains in the Gwinnett County jail without bond on voluntary manslaughter. His next court appearance is set for December 14.
