A Marietta man accused of dragging an FBI agent alongside his truck has been arraigned on federal assault charges.

Authorities said 26-year-old Cedric Hill was a fugitive when agents found him January 5 at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria located in the 6000 block of Powers Ferry Road in Sandy Springs. Federal authorities said an FBI agent confronted the gang suspect in the lobby of the hotel, then ran off toward his white pick-up truck. The FBI agent was dragged by the suspect's vehicle as he tried to get away.

Investigators said the agent became lodged in the driver-side door while trying to arrest him. The agent ended up getting pulled onto New Northside Drive, across Interstate 285, and onto the North Access Road. Investigators said as the agent was able to grab his gun with his free hand and open fire on Hill, striking him.

Authorities believe the agent was dragged for about a quarter of a mile before falling off. He was taken to the hospital with multiple broken bones, but he's expected to survive.

Hill is a Marietta native and was federally indicted on RICO conspiracy charges in October 2017 in a 30-person investigation.
