Loud 'boom' heard in Athens area
ATHENS, Ga. - Did anyone else hear that?
The Athens-Clarke County Police said they were busy Saturday afternoon responding to reports of a loud boom.
Officers said the explosive-like sound came from the Oglethorpe Avenue area, Epps Bridge Parkway, and 5 points.
Both police and fire personnel spent the afternoon investigating the reports.
Authorities said they have not received any reports of structure or property damage. In addition, no power outages were reported.
No injuries were reported associated with the loud noise.
No word on what caused the loud noise.
