COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - He played for the Georgia Bulldogs, the Buffalo Bills, and the San Francisco 49ers, but Monday he was back in his hometown of College Park handing out turkeys.
Jonas Jennings and some of his former UGA teammates made sure nearly 300 people would have a turkey this Thanksgiving.
Seniors living at Rhunette Lindsay Senior Complex, located within the city limits of College Park, are used to seeing Jennings this time of year. For 16 years he's provided them with turkeys and he has no plans of stopping.
"It's nice he gives back to the community," said Jennings. "Greatest thing in the world is helping people."
"This is where I grew up. This is the place that helped make me a man and if there's any time in the season of giving this holiday time. It's the time of the year I can rest easy knowing everyone has something to eat," said Jennings.
It's a gift the residents appreciate. Jennings took time to visit with the seniors.
Giving isn't anything new for this former Bulldog and NFL Player
He and his team try to always make sure College Park is taken care of.
"Whatever the need is we try to fill in the void. so if it's colder that year than usual we try to do a coat drive, toys, fruit baskets, gift cards for the kids."
And he says there's nowhere better to start filling in voids than your hometown and he wants his son to learn early the importance of giving.
"Something we want to show them early so they can pay it forward," said Jennings.
