ATLANTA - Longtime Atlanta radio personality Jenn Hobby received devastating news on Saturday.
"August 13, 2016," Hobby said on Facebook. "It is the day that Reese and our family started to beat cancer."
Hobby, a co-host on "The Jeff & Jenn Show" on Star 94.1, said her youngest daughter has been sick for several weeks and her family has been in and out of the emergency room.
"We knew something wasn't right with our gregarious 10-month old," Hobby told her Facebook fans. "We just didn't have any answers."
Saturday morning, following an MRI of Reese's pelvic region, Hobby and her husband learned something no parent should ever have to hear.
"One hour after our lil angel went back for a routine MRI, the doctor would sit knee to knee with us and tell us Reese has cancer," Hobby said. "We were immediately admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta."
Hobby said they felt comforted by the staff at CHOA, but terrified by the reality of the circumstances.
"In an instant, we became part of a new family that shared one common theme - we are the chosen ones to beat cancer."
Star 94.1 released more details online after Hobby's co-host Jeff Dauler shared the news with listeners on-air Monday morning. He asked listeners to keep his dear friend and her family in their thoughts as they move forward with a treatment plan.
"If you have a spare moment, I would appreciate it if you can send good energy to tiny little Reese," Dauler said. "She's going to need all that she can get."
Dauler also asked listeners to pay it forward in honor of Reese and all of the other children battling cancer.
"I do believe that energy moves across our world like ripples, and the more we put out there the more there is to come back to all of us," Dauler said.
Reese has a solid mass tumor near her tailbone, which is starting to affect her spine. She’s scheduled for a biopsy Monday afternoon to determine the type of tumor.
