Call for Action helps a baker without an oven

Imagine not having a working stove? Now, imagine not having it work for months?

It gets worse.  It's Christmas when this all happens. A FOX 5 viewer was completely frustrated after her brand, new stove just stopped working.

"December 2016 it just stopped working. No nothing. The burners didn't work. The oven didn't work. Just nothing," said Sandra Winston of her six-month-old stove.

She said it was still under manufacturer warranty, so the company sent a repairman out. Again, it was the week of Christmas.

"I wanted it fixed. Repaired. Or just exchange it. It really didn't matter. I didn't want anymore or less than what I paid for," she recalled.

After months of waiting for the fix, this Fayetteville Fox 5 viewer made a call because she was at her wit's end.

"I'm a baker. I cook. I thought I was going to lose my mind. My house is a family house. This is where everyone gathers."

She made a call to FOX 5's Call for Action team. A group of volunteers who truly want to help you get out of jams like this.

She got a friendly, helpful voice on the line.

Sandra Winston said, "It was if I knew her. She got so personal with me. She made it seem like she knew how I felt."

It was one of our Call for Action volunteers who doesn't like to be recognized. She's a secret helper if you will. After four months without a stove, things happened.

"She did more than step in. She got results. I mean, I felt powerless. I couldn't do anything. It didn't matter what department I called. They would put me off. I don't know what she did. I told her she was God-sent. But I got another range," she told us beaming.
