GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Gwinnett County police are looking for the owner of a 6-month-old puppy who was found at a Duluth apartment complex with significant injuries.
Police say the white and brown, spaniel mix puppy was found near The Columns at Club Drive on February 27. Police say a passerby brought the puppy into a shelter, and the pup was later named Mandy.
Doctors determined the puppy had multiple fractures to three of her legs, which were at various stages of healing, according to police. The various stages of healing may suggest that she received her injuries at different times. Mandy also had a few broken ribs, and initially could not walk, police said.
Veterinarians performed surgery to put pins in Mandy’s legs and those injuries are recovering well, according to police. Mandy is currently in the Gwinnett County Jail Dog Program at the Gwinnett County Jail.
Officers canvassed the neighborhood, but could not find any information about Mandy's owner.
How Mandy received her injuries is still under investigation.
