A man arrested for robbing two Well Fargo banks in Gwinnett County used a fake name when he was booked into jail, according to police. After confirming the suspect’s true identity, police say Hien M. Nguyen, 34, has been linked to another attempted bank robbery in Norcross.

Police arrested Nguyen around 10 p.m. last Thursday at a hotel in Norcross. When he was being processed at the Gwinnett County Jail, police say he used a family member's identity. Police were able to learn his true name through fingerprints, which helped to link Nguyen to an attempted robbery at a SunTrust bank on Jimmy Carter Boulevard on July 5.

In addition to the two counts robbery he was already facing, Nguyen has also been charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery, giving a false name/DOB and VGCSA Controlled Substance.

According to police, Nguyen is accused of first robbing the Wells Fargo on Indian Trail Lilburn Road last Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. Investigators said he waited in line before passing the teller a note that demanded cash.

Police said after Nguyen received the cash, he left the bank. Witnesses told police Nguyen was wearing a Superman t-shirt when the first robbery took place.

Thursday, the next day, Nguyen was caught on surveillance video wearing the same t-shirt at the Wells Fargo located in the 6100 block of Buford Highway around 1 p.m. According to police, just like the first robbery, he waited in line and then passed a note to the teller demanding cash.

"Fortunately, Nguyen was arrested before he could commit any more robberies," Gwinnett County police said in a news release Monday morning.
