Georgia police officer, dispatcher fired after drug arrest

A Georgia police lieutenant and dispatcher have been fired after sheriff's deputies found cocaine in their car during a traffic stop.

News outlets report Savannah police Lt. Mike Wilson and his girlfriend, dispatcher Irene Gould, were pulled over Saturday in neighboring Beaufort County, South Carolina, for driving a car with a broken light over the license plate.

An incident report says the couple gave consent to search the car, and deputies found a cocaine in a pack of cigarettes.

Gould was charged with cocaine possession and Wilson was cited for the broken light. Savannah police spokeswoman Keturah Green said Wednesday that both Wilson and Gould had been terminated.

A phone number listed for Wilson was disconnected. It was not immediately known if either she or Gould had an attorney.
