Georgia couple has dream 'white wedding'

Last Friday's snow forced a lot of people to have to change plans, but one Georgia couple wasn't going to let Mother Nature get in the way of their wedding.

According to the Douglasville Sentinel, Shannon and Gary Hammond were originally scheduled to get married at 6 p.m. on December 9 but had to make other plans after the rare December snowfall.

The ceremony was moved up to 5 p.m. in Lithia Springs, and due to the venue losing power the night before, the couple had to resort to a generator and some patio furniture heaters. However, there was no music and some guests weren't able to attend because of the icy roads.

Several challenges were thrown their way, but the Hammonds handled it with grace.

"It was exciting," Mr. Hammond told the Douglasville Sentinel.

"You have to look at the big pictures," said Mrs. Hammond. "Things happen that you have no control over and you can't let it get you down or stop you from what you're wanting to do."

The snow ended up providing the couple with a beautiful backdrop for a picture-perfect wedding, and they now have photos they'll cherish forever.

"It definitely was a surprise for both of us to have a white wedding," Mr. Hammond said.
