Gainesville Police searching for accused ‘toddler toy takers'

- Police need help to identify two people accused of attempting to steal toys from needy children.

"There was forced entry and it appears the suspects knew toys were in here and stumbled upon other items from other charities as well," Gainesville Police Corporal Jessica Van said.

The Gainesville Police Department shared surveillance images on Facebook Tuesday morning of two people who were caught on camera breaking into Rabbittown Salvage and Toys for Tots at the Chicopee Mill. Police said Toys for Tots and Disabled Americans house items in the warehouse.

"It hurts us that they stole from kids and from charities," Van said. "The two organizations reported multiple break-ins in recent weeks."

On top of the toys for boys and girls and medical supplies for veterans, the thieves damaged the warehouse and vandalized the building.

"Let's stop these ‘grinches’ that were trying to steal toys from needy children," Gainesville Police said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Investigator Cronic at 770-535-3026.
