In the infancy of passenger air service, this plane was one of the first and still resides in its original birth at Delta’s historic hanger one. To mark the special day, The Delta Flight Museum will allow guests to step inside the plane and step back in time to the beginning days of Atlanta’s hometown airline.

FOX 5 can take you inside Ship 41 right now with our special 3D tour that allows you to board the plane and step right into the cockpit.  FOX 5, Delta Air Lines and Matterport have partnered on this special project that documents in 3D this historic aircraft that was so lovingly restored by Delta employees and retires from 1995 to 1999.

FOX 5’s Doug Evans spent more than six hours with a Matterport 3D camera photographing the exterior and interior of the DC 3, even crawling underneath. From the cockpit to the lavatory, from the big steel props to to tail flaps you’ll see every inch of the plane in way never recorded in its 75 year history.

Happy Birthday Ship 41 and congratulations to Delta Air Lines!
