The former Georgia State Trooper involved in a fatal crash in Carroll County that killed two teens and injured two others will not be indicted.

A grand jury on Wednesday returned a “no bill” on charges of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree, two counts of Serious Injury by Vehicle, and one count of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer for A.J. Scott after a day of testimony and deliberations.

Scott, who was working as a trooper for the Georgia State Patrol at the time, was in his patrol car when it struck another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Holly Springs Drive in Carroll County on September 26. Investigators said that Scott was exceeding the speed limit of 55 mph by as much as 35 mph just prior striking the vehicle carrying the four teenagers. He was not responding to an emergency and didn't have his lights and sirens activated, according to the investigation.

Scott was fired from the Georgia State Patrol a week after the deadly crash.

Isabella Chinchilla, 16, and Kylie Lindsey, 17, were killed in the crash. Two other teens, Benjamin Finken, 17, and Dillon Wall, 18, were injured.

District Attorney Pete Skandalakis in a press release sent to FOX 5 News on Wednesday noted how the “jurors were very engaged and took their duties very seriously” as well as “asked very pointed, relevant, and intelligent questions concerning the facts and the proposed charges.”
