Sandy Springs officials said 19 students were transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Most were treated for minor injuries, but no serious injuries were reported. All but one of the students were later released. The driver of the passenger vehicle was also taken to an area hospital, but their condition was not immediately known.

Officials are crediting the second bus with alerting the first bus driver by radio about the fire, allowing enough time to safely evacuate the bus.

The students that were not injured were taken on another bus to school.

The wreck forced all lanes of Roswell Road to shut down for a couple hours.

The driver of the car, whose name has not yet been released, was issued traffic charges related to the collision, according to police.
