Members of the DeKalb County Fire and Rescue Department hit the streets to ask for the community’s help. Saturday was the annual Georgia Fire Fighters Burn Foundation Boot Drive.

Drivers in DeKalb County chatted with firefighters, thanking them for their hard work in the community as donations were dropped into firefighter boots.

The funds will go towards fire safety and prevention education in Georgia. It will also assist burn survivors in their recovery.

“It makes us feel wonderful. It makes us feel appreciated. Let's us know that the community is still standing behind us one thousand percent, and as long as we're here serving, we're going to continue to do what we can,” said Captain Eric Jackson, Dekalb County Fire Department. “Taking part in this boot drive is just another component of what we do as firefighters.”

Anyone who missed the firefighters on the streets can still donate at gfbf.org.
