GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - On Monday afternoon, a house in Sugar Hill was struck by lightning during an intense storm. The homeowner was home and called the Gwinnett County Fire Department.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire just to the roof and the attic of the home. Firefighters said if the homeowner wasn’t home at the time, the fire could’ve damaged much more of the home.
The homeowner and his two children were able to escape safely.
The family told FOX 5 they’re hoping the storms coming throughout the next couple days don’t flood their home.
