FBI: Wanted Atlanta man in teen murder case arrested in Detroit

A wanted man in the murder case of a 16-year-old girl in Atlanta was arrested in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday, according to the FBI.

26-year-old Dwight Lewis was arrested without incident by FBI agents and Task force Officers of the Detroit FBI Violent Crime Task Force.

Lewis was wanted in connection with the February 2 homicide of a 16-year-old girl. Police say Lewis allegedly fired multiple rounds from a handgun into a vehicle during an altercation around 1:00 a.m., according to police.

The 16-year-old girl was struck and died from her injuries, according to officials. The shooting occurred at the Deerfield Gardens Apartments located at 2909 Campbellton Road S.W., Atlanta.

Lewis is being detained at the Wayne County Detention Facility, Detroit, Michigan where he will await extradition proceedings back to Atlanta, Georgia.
