A heartwarming story of generosity from an Atlanta Falcons player just ahead of the Super Bowl. Offensive guard Ben Garland gifted the hottest tickets in town to a Gwinnett County woman.

Kami Kennedy is a military widow and once Garland learned of her story, he immediately wanted to do something special for her. Kennedy says it truly was the surprise of a lifetime.

The Gwinnett County mother of two received a pair of Super Bowl LIII tickets, thanks to the Falcons offensive linebacker. Garland surprised Kennedy with the tickets after meeting her at a military fundraising dinner.

Kennedy lost her husband, Major Tom Kennedy back in 2012. He was on his third tour, this one in Afghanistan. Garland is an Air Force veteran.

When her husband passed away, Kennedy was left to raise twin infants. Her desire to keep her husband’s memory alive and his love of education got her involved in a non-profit Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. The organization provides all kinds of support including college scholarships for military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

Not only was she left a widow to raise two young children, last year, but doctors also diagnosed Kennedy with breast cancer. And they recently told her it has spread. Garland said after talking to Kennedy, hearing her story and her struggles he couldn’t think of a better more deserving person than her to give the tickets.

Garland started gifting super bowl tickets last year. This year, he managed to buy three pairs and every one of them he gifted.
