BUCKHEAD, Ga. - An expecting mother said she thought she was going to die after an armed man started banging on her Buckhead apartment door, shortly after she heard shots.
“I looked through the peephole, there is a man with a rifle pointed at the door and he is telling me to open the mother f---ing door,” said the expecting mother who asked FOX 5 not to share her name.
Atlanta Police said it happened Sunday at the Allure at Brookwood apartments in Buckhead.
The woman said she was terrified, hid in her closet and dialed 911 while the man continued banging on the door, she said a few minutes later she heard shots fired.
“I didn't know if he was trying to rob me, I didn't know if he was coming through the door to kill me, I didn't know what he was aggravated by,” said the victim.
According to the Atlanta Police report one witness told officers she heard a man say “I am going to f---ing shoot you” and five minutes later heard two shots.
Atlanta Police arrested Carlton Muldrow Jr. and charged him with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damage to Property.
Investigators told the victim, that Muldrow lived four floors beneath her. The victim told FOX 5’s Nathalie Pozo, the only reason she can think of that may have set her neighbor off is that she lets her dogs defecate on her balcony and after picking it up washes the floor with soap and water and dumped it over the balcony.
“However, that doesn’t give him the right to come to my door with an armed rifle threatening me to open the door,” said the victim.
Residents expressed their concern after learning what happened.
“In an apartment like this which is dog-friendly, you would expect them to be a little more understanding about little incidents and just talk to people without resorting to violence,” said resident Victoria Rice.
The mother to be said while she is traumatized, she is glad she and her unborn baby were not hurt.
“I feel blessed, I thank God that nothing happened to me, my dog, even my boyfriend, I am very grateful.”
