Baby store thieves pepper spray employee during Alpharetta robbery

- Police are searching for three women, they say, doused an employee at a baby clothing store in Alpharetta with pepper spray during a robbery.

It happened at Carter's on North Point Parkway.

"This is extremely rare," said Alpharetta Public Information Officer George Gordon.

Gordon said the women went to the store during a busy time of the day.

"One of the women distracted the employee while the other two put baby clothing in a bag," said Gordon.

But before they could get away, an employee realized what was going on.

"She tried to grab the bag, that's when one of the woman pulled out mace and pepper sprayed her," he said.

The suspects immediately took off. Police are hoping photos of the women captured on surveillance video will help lead to their arrest.

"When you use force, it goes from shoplifting to robbery," said Gordon. "They're facing robbery and accessory to robbery charges."
