A little girl from Eatonton, Georgia has won her battle against brain cancer.

Last week 9-year-old Cadence Fox was officially "deported" at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Last Thursday, the surgical staff removed her port, which is a medical device that sits just under the skin. The port is the gateway for chemotherapy medicines, IV fluids, antibiotics and other treatments.

"Today has been a day of many emotions. We put an end to this chapter and begin another. Thank you all for your love, support, gifts and words of encouragement," a family member shared on Facebook. "We could not have done any of this without each and every one of you."

In May, doctors discovered a mass on Cadence's pituitary gland and her parents rushed her to Egleston Hospital. Her mother, Tara Fox, told FOX 5 News that her daughter had two germinoma cancer tumors on her brain. Cadence's treatment consisted of four rounds of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation.

In December, Cadence went in for an MRI and learned something her family had been hoping and praying to hear for quite some time: she was cancer free.

"Just got the phone call and Cadence Fox's scans are CLEAR!!" Tara Fox said. "We are in remission. Thank you for your love and support throughout all this. Next step is port removal."

Fox said her family couldn't stop smiling after learning the news and it brought tears to her daughter's eyes.

"She even told me 'we won this battle mama,'" Fox said.

Cadence will continue having MRIs every three months.
