Donations needed to save badly injured dog

A Georgia pet rescue group is asking for donations to help cover funds needed to save a badly injured dog who was possibly a victim of abuse.

According to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, "Evanna" was found critically injured in Walker County Wednesday night, suffering from a gunshot wound.

"Our guess is she went where she wasn't supposed to and instead of finding a caring person to help her out when she needed it, she was shot," Angels Among Us said on Facebook.

Angels Among Us received a call from Walker County Animal Control after a homeowner found Evanna. She was somehow able to drag herself to that person's nearby yard after being shot in the face.

"We need funds for her emergency care. If you donate, we'll do the rest," Angels Among Us said.

Evanna is currently being transferred to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Sandy Springs, where she'll receive the treatment she needs to hopefully save her life.

Angels Among Us said Evanna's injuries were so graphic, they could only share a blurred photo of her on Facebook. In the post, they included the following prayer:

"Dear God, our prayer is that Evanna lives long enough for us to get to her. Please wrap her in Heavenly Angels' wings until we reach her. Please give us the stamina for the fight to protect dogs like Evanna and the courage to do what's right. Give us a clear head even though we're filled with so much anger at those who hurt the innocent. Amen."
