CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - Investigators in Cherokee County said they have identified remains found behind a home earlier this month.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said 58-year-old Gary Farris in the rear of the residence on the 2100 block of Purcell Lane. The property spans 10-acres and includes a barn, home, and lake. Deputies said Farris’ death has been ruled a homicide.
Investigators said Farris is listed as the owner of the property where his remains were found.
Detectives combed over the property and pond on the property following the discovery.
The sheriff’s office said it is confident this is not a random crime and that Farris knew the person or persons who killed him.
