DeKalb County Sheriff Jeff Mann pled guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges of prohibitive conduct inside an Atlanta city park and obstruction as part of a plea deal between his attorney and prosecutors.

Mann entered the guilty plea, two hours after the scheduled start time for his trial in Atlanta Municipal Court on charges of public indecency and obstruction.

Atlanta Municipal Court Judge Crystal Gaines sentenced Mann to an 180 day suspended sentence, $2000 fine plus court costs, and 80 hours of community service.

She also banned Mann from all City of Atlanta public parks for the next 6 months, effective immediately.

Atlanta police arrested Mann on May 6th after he allegedly exposed himself at Piedmont Park, and then ran from an officer.

Mann had pled not guilty to the public indecency and obstruction charges. He had denied the accusations, claiming it was all a misunderstanding.

Mann placed himself on suspension for a week in the days following the alleged incident.

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal also placed him on a 40-day suspension last month after a state committee investigated the sheriff.
