Search continues for 77-year-old man with dementia

Authorities are continuing their search for 77-year-old Maurice Taitt, a critically missing man from Trinidad who disappeared in Stone Mountain while visiting family.

On Saturday, search crews are canvassing the area near the 300 block of Wynbrooke Parkway, which is near where Taitt was last seen.

Police said their efforts have turned into a critical ordeal, several days after the senior was last seen and given medicine.

He has been diagnosed with dementia and has no money, according to police. Family members said Taitt also requires daily diabetes medicine.

Police said searches organized by officers with K9s and police helicopters have turned up empty. Police plan to continue an organized search Thursday morning.

Wednesday night, dozens of volunteers joined the Taitt family to distribute fliers around the Stone Mountain area by Rockbridge and Deshon Roads. 

Taitt is described as a black male, 5-foot-11 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds. He has brown eyes, gray hair, and a low haircut. He was last seen wearing an orange and brown striped polo shirt.
