Bizarre DeKalb County home invasion

It was a Tuesday morning like no other for three DeKalb County residents.

“We were the victims of a home invasion,” Richard Martin said.

Martin and his two roommates have lived at the home for three years.

“I heard some noises in my room,” Martin said. “I woke up and saw a man standing next to my bed. He took my phone, then bolted.”

Martin said it happened all too quick to get a good description of the burglar.

“Our TV, video game consoles, change, video games were all gone...” Michael Smith told FOX 5.

But the roommates said what’s strange about this robbery is the fact that they found men’s clothing left behind and discovered their stolen TV behind a neighbor’s home.

“Our neighbors told us that they found a trail of quarters... We followed it all the way and found our missing TV,” Michael McCann said.

Their belongings can be replaced, but they said there’s one thing the burglar took that they can’t get back.

“Our sense of security,” Martin said. “I’m just thankful no one was hurt. It could have been a lot worse.”
