COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Property taxes are set to increase for Cobb County residents.
In a 3-2 vote, commissioners approved a millage rate hike of about 34 percent for most residents.
It came after Wednesday night's packed public hearing on the issue.
Residents showed up and spoke out on both sides of the issues.
Some said the rate increase is too high and unnecessary.
Others argued the increased revenue is necessary to improve county resources.
County officials had projected a $30 million budget shortfall if they didn't pass the tax hike.
