Officials at Georgia Gwinnett College evacuated a building Thursday after a student was testing pepper spray inside a building.

The school originally said it was an unknown chemical that was sprayed and caused the evacuations, but a Georgia Gwinnett College spokesperson later confirmed that it was pepper spray.

Just before 2 p.m., the college tweeted “Evacuate Building H now and stay away. Follow here, or visit ggc.edu for updates.”

Moments later, the college tweeted, “Classes in Building H1 have been canceled for the rest of the day. Follow here, or visit ggc.edu  for updates.”

Gwinnett Gwinnett College is located at 1000 University Center Lane in Lawrenceville.

The building was closed to air out, and will re-open Friday morning.

It’s not immediately known if anyone was injured in the incident.
