ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - It was all about Atlanta United at Atlanta City Hall today.
The team was honored by the City Council with a proclamation naming Dec. 3 as "Atlanta United Day."
The team is the 2018 Eastern Conference MLS champion.
Councilman Andre Dickens and the entire chamber proudly celebrated the team Monday.
"In just our second year, we have raised the stakes," Dickens said. "We are going to the championship game on Saturday in just the second year of this club, broken all attendance records that could ever be set by a football club.
Saturday's game versus the Portland Timbers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium sold out in a matter of minutes. If you don't have a ticket, you're going to have to dig deep to get one. A search of the secondary market found prices starting at $180 with fees for nosebleed seats.
You can also watch the game on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. FOX 5.
