COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A Cartersville man has been sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to molesting a 14-year-old boy in 2016.
Officials say 58-year-old Wesley Tyronne Dean admitting to having a sexual encounter with the boy at a Marriott hotel in the Galleria area on October 28, 2016.
The victim's mother contacted police after finding inappropriate text messages on her son's phone that were sent from Dean in October 2016.
During an investigation, police confirmed that the two went to the hotel through security footage.
After being presented the evidence, Dean confessed to police, officials said.
"Mr. Dean preyed upon the vulnerability and insecurity of a teenage boy by giving him money, purchasing him gifts, and making him feel cared for and accepted – all with the motivation of exploiting him sexually," Senior Assistant District Attorney Katie Gropper said.
Dean has been sentenced to 15 years in custody with the rest on probation.
