Carroll County EMT Arrested for Sexual Assault

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. - An emergency medical technician has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl during an ambulance ride.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office said Morris Jumorris Singleton, 28, was accused last fall. The teen claims Singleton touched her backside as she was being transported to Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica.

Under Georgia law, any touching of a sexual nature is prohibited by a person providing medical care. Carroll County investigators said when an EMT is transporting a patient; some level of physical contact is expected. However, investigators said the details of this case show the act was intentional and "against her [the victim's] will."

Singleton has been employed by West Georgia Ambulance Service for the past four years, according to the company. Thursday afternoon the company's Director of Operations told FOX 5 the company is "fully cooperating with the Sheriff's investigation and hoping for the best."

Singleton was given a $15,000 bond during his first court appearance on Wednesday. Authorities said there is no indication that others were victimized, but in cases like this that is always a possibility. Authorities said if there are others who think they may have been victimized, they need to call the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
