A new type of beer is causing quite the buzz in one Colorado city.

Tucked away in a little corner of Parker, a small brewery hopes its new line of cannabis beer will be a hit with people.  This week, Dad and Dudes Brewing is getting ready for the Super Bowl of beer – the Great American Beer Festival.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” brewery owner Mason Hembree said. “It is the most exhausting and exciting thing in the world. It’s fun.”

Out of the nearly 4,000 beers that will be there, Dad and Dudes is brewing up something no one else has. So far, customers can’t seem to get enough of the CBD oil beer – as in cannabis beer.

Head of Brewing Brian Connery explained all the fuss surrounding his new brew.

“This year at the Great American Beer Festival, we will be serving three CBD oil beers,” explained Connery. “We use a quarter gram per keg, so that turns out to 2.04 micrograms per glass.”

But what’s it like to drink?

“Cannabis is supposed to have medicinal purposes, so I was thinking about, ‘maybe if I can get a prescription from my doctor, I can start deducting my beer drinking,’” customer Kermit Breyer said. “I don’t know, I don’t have great feeling in my body, but I’ll tell you, I think it makes my legs tingle.”

Maybe so, but this brewery says the tingling is not from the cannabis.

“It’s high in cannabinoids, and it’s lacking in all psychotropic effects,” Hembree explained. “My beer will not get you high. I’m sorry if that’s what you’re looking for.”
