Butts County community helps family of deadly house fire

- The small community of Jackson in Butts County is rallying around a family left devastated by a deadly fire. Two toddlers died in the flames Friday afternoon. Their mother, Alicia Crowder, tried to get them out of the home on Valley Road, but could not.

Family members identify the young boys as Stevie, 2 years old, and Grayson, 3. Their mother was burned severely while trying to escape. She was listed in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital's Burn Unit on Saturday. Three other children, ages 8, 7 and 5, were at school during the emergency.

Stark Elementary School is now collecting new clothes and shoes for the children, along with monetary donations to go to help the entire family. Donations can be dropped off Monday on campus.

Butts County Schools Superintendent Robert Costley told FOX 5's Kaitlyn Pratt, "We are heartbroken for this family. We send our love and prayers and know the community of Jackson will circle around them in this terrible time."

Fire investigators have ruled the fire accidental. They said the electrical fire started in the hall and spread quickly through the single story home.
