Pop star Bruno Mars, host and comedian Steve Harvey and other notable entertainers and business leaders will gather in Atlanta Thursday to celebrate community service and empowerment.
The entertainers are lending their talents to the inaugural Beloved Benefit, which will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Organizers say 100 percent of the proceeds from the extravaganza will go to support nonprofits on the city’s Westside, including the At-Promise Youth and Community Center, City of Refuge, Grove Park Foundation, the Westside Future Fund and Westside Works. Other groups will be recognized during the evening for their commitment to service in the area.
According to its website, the Beloved Community, grounded in the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., aims to “restore every part of our city. Once a flourishing part of the nation’s civil rights movement, Atlanta’s Westside has since been left behind. As part of the Beloved Community, it's our responsibility to restore every part of our city.”
