"That was surprising to me, reviewing the video, is how many cars went by during that fifteen-minute time frame. He’s in and out of the street, clawing at the building and folks just rode by in cars it's amazing," said Captain Greg Vaughn, Lawrenceville Police Department.

Officers said the incident happened at the Bulls-Eye Indoor Range and Gun Shop round 3:30 a.m. Police believe someone grabbed a backhoe from a nearby construction site and smashed it into the front of the store.

"I have never seen anything like this," said Vaughn.

"What we're thinking is maybe he tried to break in the back door, was unsuccessful," said Vaughn.

Although the equipment caused major damage, the owners said no guns or ammunition were stolen. There's another gate protecting the store behind the glass.

"Maybe a light bulb went off and was like ‘OK, this will break the front,’" said Vaughn. "We would have been there sooner and maybe caught the person and prevented the damage."

Investigators plan to rely on surveillance video to track down the person responsible.
