Bond set for man accused of attempted kidnapping of high school student

- The 60-year-old former Henry County pastor accused of kidnapping a teenage girl in DeKalb County had bond set Thursday.

Alvin Joiner was arrested in late February after police said he attempted to abduct the student as she was walking to Miller Grove High School on Feb. 6. Investigators said he also attempted to lure other girls into his car by offering them rides months earlier.

Thursday, a judge set bond for Joiner at $100,000 for the charges of kidnapping and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Police have accused joiner of similar incidents involving three other girls just months earlier.

The New Hope Church in Stockbridge immediately dismissed Joiner from a position as a minister once they learned of the charges.
