Driver finds woman's body along Douglas County highway

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities are investigating after a passerby found a female's body along Highway 78 in Villa Rica Sunday afternoon.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the person spotted the remains in a wooded area close to train tracks.

However, deputies do not believe the train hit the woman.

People near the scene told FOX 5 the discovery has them on edge.

"I think it's pretty crazy. I would like to know what is going on. and who did it.
My grandchild lives here with me. It's not very comforting to know that," neighbor Steve Godfrey said.

Authorities haven't released the identity of the deceased. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
