Baby born on FDR Drive

A couple couldn't make it to the hospital in time for the birth of their son. The new mother gave birth to the boy on the northbound lanes around 48th Street near the United Nations.

It happened during rush hours and created quite a back-up as their car and emergency vehicles blocked lanes.

NYPD officers helped deliver the baby because EMS workers could not get there with an ambulance in time.  The mother and child were taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital. The baby boy, named Nicola Wong, weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

Fox 5 tried to speak to mom and dad but they wanted some alone time with their new bundle of joy. They will leave the hospital in the next few days.
