Atlanta Police officer hit by car in Buckead due to icy roads

On Thursday morning an Atlanta Police officer was injured while helping drivers involved in accidents on Lenox Road near GA 400.

According to Atlanta Police spokesperson, D.T. Hannah the officer was working a multi-vehicle wreck and drivers slid into each other while the officer was outside of her police car.

As the officer was trying to help drivers that were involved in a wreck another driver coming off of the GA 400 exit ramp, lost control and slid into one of the vehicles involved in the initial wreck and caused that vehicle to slide into the police officer. 

Some nearby witnesses used the officer's radio to call for help. 

According to Atlanta Police, the officer was in a lot of pain and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. 

The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident was cited for failure to maintain their lane.
