Atlanta Police enact new penalties for improperly stored weapons
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Police Department is implementing a new policy for service weapons which are stolen.
Sworn officers will face a minimum three-day suspension and will have to cover the cost of replacing it up to $500.That is only if officers fail to follow the proper guidelines for securing their weapons, particularly in an unattended vehicle.
The new police policy is meant to help eliminate gun theft from the department.
