Atlanta Hawks hosts back-to-school event

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The Atlanta Hawks are making sure students go back to school prepared excel in the classroom.

Thursday players donated backpacks to more than 300 students at Welcome All Park in South Fulton.

Organizers filled backpacks with school supplies as kids participated in special events.

Former Atlanta Hawks player Mike Glenn hopes the event will inspire kids to get more involved in sports, especially basketball.

Kids participated in basketball skills and drills and received a visit from Harry The Hawk.
