Atlanta Habitat for Humanity dedicates "Pope Francis House"

In November 2015, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity began constructing a home honoring Pope Francis for his commitment to social justice and reinvigorating the Roman Catholic Church in November 2015. The house was built over seven Saturdays with help from partners and volunteers from 19 Atlanta organizations.

The new Atlanta Habitat home is one of 58 Pope Francis houses that were built in the United States, with two additional homes built in Haiti.

Saturday, with a special blessing by Atlanta Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory, the house was dedicated.

"We were thrilled to have the opportunity to build a home in honor of Pope Francis. The faith-based community has been one of our most important and outstanding partners since Atlanta Habitat's founding 32 years ago, and we look forward to dedicating this home," said Lisa Y. Gordon, President and CEO, Atlanta Habitat.
