Atlanta Community Food Bank kicks off Hunger Action Month

- September is Hunger Action Month, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank needs your help to feed the city’s homeless.

Research shows nearly 18 percent of Georgia residents don’t know where they will find their next meal and, many of those homes, have children to feed.

Each year, an estimated 755,400 people in metro Atlanta and north Georgia rely on food banks to feed their families. A reported 82% of those household were forced to choose between buying food or paying for life’s basic necessities–and the need continues to grow.

Hunger Action Month is an annual campaign that encourages the public to get involved with food banks across the nation to help fight hunger in their communities.

Last year, the Atlanta Community Food Bank distributed a total of 69.3 million pounds of food to the city’s homeless, and there’s more to do.

Learn how you can help distribute food to Georgians in need.
