ATLANTA - An arrest has been made in the brutal murder of a homeless man along Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta.
Police said on Sept. 5, 59-year-old Atlanta resident Moses Cooper was brutally beaten on the sidewalk and left for dead at the entrance to the 805 Peachtree condo building. Police officers were flagged down around 2 a.m. and alerted to the beating.
Investigators said Cooper suffered blunt force trauma and they believe he was assaulted while he was sleeping.
On Monday, officers located Michael Johnson on Peachtree Street. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Fulton County Jail. He's been charged with Cooper's murder.
Last week, detectives released surveillance video as they searched for two persons of interest.
