ATLANTA - A window washing platform collapsed outside a building in Midtown Atlanta Friday afternoon, leading to an explosion, according to firefighters. Workers were able to get off the platform safely, and no one was injured, rescuers said.
It happened at the Icon Building on 14th Street between Spring Street and West Peachtree Street.
Video from SKYFOX 5 showed a section of scaffolding dangling on the side of the building. Witnesses said others portions of scaffolding fell and landed on a car.
Atlanta firefighters said equipment fell from the scaffolding and struck power lines on the way down to the ground. The Atlanta Fire Department said that led to an electrical explosion and vehicle fire.
